I guess this is a major remodel after all.
Part of the bid was repairing the ductwork to fix all the leaks created by years of running an
oversized furnace. The old ductwork was so leaky that we had to cover the vents whenever we built
a fire in the fireplace -- otherwise, the chimney would pull drafty, cold air out of all the
vents in the no-longer-sealed system.
At any rate, it turned out to be easier to just replace all the ducts. Lookit all the ductwork that had been under the house!
In case you're worried, all that ductwork was carted off later that day.
We're very happy that the contract specifies that the site will be left "broom-clean" every day --
I can't imagine living through a remodel any other way.
